Een lieflijk kapelletje in de mooie landelijke omgeving van Velden, gelegen aan het Pieterpad en de wandeling “ 't Vorst-Hasselt” en behoort tot de prachtige hoeve Hovershof (Haoveshof in ‘t Vorst) die in 1778 is gebouwd. Een gedeelte van de boerderij is in 1965 grotendeels door brand verwoest en de huidige eigenaar, de zoon van de stichter van het kapelletje, heeft al heel wat restauratiewerkzaamheden verricht met een geweldig resultaat!
Het kapelletje is in 1979 gebouwd en gewijd aan Maria, Moeder Gods. Een eenvoudig bouwwerk met in de voorgevel een kruis van bakstenen. Achterin het kapelletje in een nis staat een houten Mariabeeld met kind. Maria als hemelkoningin met het Christuskind, zittend op haar arm. De stichter en bouwer van dit mooi kapelletje heeft dit beeld verworven in een Schwarzwalder dorpje in Zuid-Duitsland. Vandaar ook de benaming Schwarzwald-Madonna.
A lovely chapel in the beautiful countryside of Velden, located at the Pieterpad and the walk “ ‘t Vorst-Hasselt” that belongs to the beautiful farm Hovershof (Haoveshof in ‘t Vorst) which was built in 1778. The chapel was built in 1979 and dedicated to Mary, Mother of God. A simple structure with a cross in front of bricks. Back of the chapel in a niche stands a wooden statue of Mary with child. Mary as Queen of Heaven, with the Christ Child, sitting on her arm. The founder and builder of this beautiful chapel has acquired this statue in a Schwarzwald village in Southern Germany. This explains the name Schwarzwald-Madonna.
