Geocache Description:

First adopted geocache, essentially a rescue. With the 2012 hidden date, I felt it was best to keep this cache on the game board for awhile longer. I strive to create and hide well thought out caches for the Geocaching Community to find and treasure.

Welcome To The Jungle!

The parking coordinates are the coordinates for Bob Hierman Wildlife Park at Thomas Eddy. Please obey the park rules and hours.

If you're still reading this, and attempting this hide from May - October of any year, let alone 2020, please be advised 1) wear long sleeve tops, and long legged pants 2) be prepared to bushwhack through 6 feet high grass and about 5 feet of blackberry vines 3) and bring gloves.

Waypoints

I was determined to better or enhance the geocaching experience beyond what I did to reach the GZ. I placed survey tape by each of the WPs I pinned on the easiest path to the GZ. Again, if you visit during winter through March, you might find all the tall grass matted down.

Geocache

The GZ is at the base of a peculiar tree that resembles an owl, which is homage to the original name of this geocache - Owl Tree. To continue with my naming convention, the title of this cache and all my caches, is a song title: Welcome To The Jungle by Guns 'n' Roses. In addition to being a gecoacher, I'm also an event DJ. The lyrics are below if you’re unfamiliar with the song.

Keep Calm, Cache On [KCCO]
Falconer Swarlos

Welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games
We got everything you want honey, we know the names
We are the people that can find whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey we got your disease
Jungle, welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your shun n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees
Uh I, I wanna watch you bleed
Welcome to the jungle, we take it day by day
If you want it you're gonna bleed but it's the price to pay
And you're a very sexy girl, very hard to please
You can taste the bright lights, but you won't get there for free
In the jungle, welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine
Uh, I, I want to hear you scream
Welcome to the jungle, it gets worse here every day
You learn to live like an animal in the jungle where we play
If you got hunger for what you see, you'll take it eventually
You can have everything you want but you better not take it from me
In the jungle, welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees
Uh ah, I'm gonna watch you bleed
And when you're high you never ever wanna come down
So down, so down, so down, yeah
You know where you are?
You're in the jungle baby
You're gonna die
In the jungle, welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your shun n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees
In the jungle, welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine
In the jungle welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your shun n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees
Down the jungle, welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to you
It's gonna bring you down, huh

Original Text For Owl TreeI stood on the ridge line, peering below. Grasses fluttered as wind would blow. I saw a peculiar looking tree, Which seemed to be calling out to me. I descended the ridge following my cue, Into a sea of grass and small trees of few. Alas, my tree seemed so far, But the authorities prevented me from using my car. I was soon swallowed by the large sea of grass, Some spots resisted while others let me pass. As the grass and me had our brawl, I was soon graced with the presence of a peach colored owl. "This way" he called as he flew forth, Majestically making his way to the east and the north. As time went by, The owl continued through the sky, The tree was once again in sight, I pushed on forward with all my might. I eventually intercepted a hunters trail, I soon reached the tree with great avail. "You can't get in through here" I heard the tree say, "You have to come in from another way." There were thorny blackberries surrounding the tree, By the way the tree addressed me, I knew now that at this time I couldn't flee. I circled around to the other side, Where a small entrance did reside. "I've been expecting your visit jcacher15, Your getting here proves you quite keen. As you can tell I look mighty and powerful, But I am very old and have taken quite a toll. I've grown ill and weak after all these years, And these black berry bushes are enough to choke me to tears." I searched for something that could help the tree's life, In quick haste I pulled out my knife. I began to hack the blackberries away, But then the tree said with great dismay, "To remove the blackberries there is no way, As they'll just be back again next may. I know that if I fall the owl will lose its home, But it is a day which in time must come. The only thing I wish for now, Is to see my old friends again, but how? For some reason they've stopped coming, With their electronic devices clicking and humming. Jcacher15, Can you do something? I'd really like my friends to be once again visiting." I knew just what to do.
