Den här cachen publicerades i samband med eventet Hälsans Stig Visby 2012 och är en av fyra cachar som leder fram till HS12 - Delfinal 3 - Russ (gul). För mer info, se här.

Gustavsvik har fått sitt namn efter Gustaf Theodor Hägg, som köpte området norr om Visby 1884. Familjen uppförde två stora sommarvillor i tidstypisk snickarglädje, båda är tyvärr borta sedan länge.

I mitten av 1950-talet tog Visby stad över och 1957 byggdes de första delarna av semesterbyn. Den så kallade C-delen, av vilken fyra stugor har bevarats för kulturminnesvårdens skull, kom till 1963 och bestod av ett fyrtiotal ”sockerbitar”.

Det finns arkeologiska belägg för att detta är en av de äldsta bosättningarna på Gotland tillsammans med Kopparvik söder om Visby.

Gustavsvik is named after Gustav Theodor Hägg, who purchased the area north of Visby 1884. The family erected two large villas in typical carpentry style, both of which are unfortunately long gone.

In the mid-1950s, the city of Visby took over and in 1957 they built the first parts of the resort. The so-called C-section, of which four cottages have been preserved for conservation purposes, was built in 1963 and consisted of about forty "sugar cubes".

There is archaeological evidence that this is one of the oldest settlements on Gotland together with Kopparvik south of Visby.
