Geocache Description:

Congratulations to page3cows on the First to Find

This cache is the sixth in a series of caches. The plan is to put out a range of difficulty and terrain caches, as well as cache types, local to the Eglinton and surrounding areas (for my ease of maintenance). The first digit of these caches will also start with all the letters and numbers for anyone trying to complete their Alphanumeric challenge.

Please remember to note down the letter printed around the outside of the cache.

St. Canice’s Parish Church

Nothing remains of the original settlement except for the ruins of the Parish Church of Faughanvale which was built in 1626, the gable and window arch still stand in the graveyard of St Canice’s, the present parish church was built in 1821. The fortified bawn stood until 1823 when the Grocer's Company remodeled the village and built a Glebe house (rectory) on the site, they also built a schoolhouse, courthouse, manor house, market house and cottages. Several of these are still to be seen today including the Erasmus Smith schoolhouse built in 1812.

The above co-ordinates are for parking at the graveyard.
