Reason why I like it here and want to show you are these amazing animals. When entering UHCL campus signs warn you against alligators, bobcats, coyotes, deer, spiders and snakes. In fact, it is quite rare to see alligators, bobcats or coyotes at the trail but you can see there other animals which are worth it. There should be many gators in Horsepen Bayou flowing through campus not far from this trail. There are no restrooms or water along this trail. Bikes are not allowed.
Park your car at designated Nature trail parking lot. If gate is closed use paid campus parking lot nearby. Start your trip observing a small stream along the street near parking lot. You will probably find turtles, birds (common kinds are great white egret, yellow-crowned night heron and even birds of prey), dragonflies or fishes in this natural habitat.

Follow the trail into the woods. Shortly after entering the forest go left through pavillion where you can relax. Continue deeper into the forest, listen to the sounds of wildlife and try to see it. CAUTION: you can meet venomous snakes there, like I did several times. Be careful, especially copperheads are badly visible and you can step on them.

After while you will come to crossroad - continue on longer 1/2 mile loop. At the end of this loop you will go a few feet off the trail to find the cache. When I tried to find location for cache I saw a turtle there. Then I returned back after some while to remeasure my coordinates and some curious deer came very close to me.

If you go for this cache during hot day you can see white-tailed deer more likely in the woods. While early in the morning or in the evening you can see them regularly at the meadow adjacent to parking lot where you started your trip.

I often saw some wild rabbits at this trail.
