Geocache Description:

An easy walk through the vineyard providing you with fantastic scenery.

Accurate to 6 meters
Elevation 1322 ft.

This cache is on private property and is fully fenced. Access is only available when the gate is open during the winery hours of operation. 10am – 5pm seasonal.

Access off McLean Creek Road. Drive down to the end of the driveway where you will find parking.

You will find yourself in the bottom of a natural bowl with grapes growing all around you. The vineyard has Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer varietals. This is a really great site to see grapes growing next to the native desert plants of the area. You will see antelope brush, grey sage, and wild roses. If you are here in the early spring you can also see the balsam root blooming. Towering above you is the sheer rock face of Peach Cliff. It is quite breathe taking.

As you are walking towards to cache keep an eye out for some of the local wildlife. Overhead you might find the resident red tailed hawk that uses this area as his hunting grounds. Snoozing on the rocks you will probably see a member of the local marmot colony. Running in all directions you will see some of the abundant California quail. Keep your eyes open for rattle snakes too.

If you are lucky you might get to hear one of the neighbours practicing the bag pipes or cows mooing in the distance. Historically this area was primarily ranch land operated by three pioneering families, the McLean’s, Lier’s, and Thomas’. Named after the McLean Family, McLean Creek runs just below the vineyard.

There is no need to walk between the grape rows to reach the cache. You can walk on the road that goes through the vineyard. Please don't pick the grapes or damage the vines.
