Geocache Description:

Come celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first permanent European building in the Willamette Valley [and third in Oregon]. William Wallace led a party of trappers and traders up from Fort Astor to establish a trading post to send meat and furs back down river. this was 1812, and we are celebrating that history with an event at Keizer Rapids Park in conjunction with RiverFair.

This will be a simple mini event. We will have a dozen hides around town. There is a lovely geocoin commemorating the bicentenial [ond on obverse the 30th anniversary of the City of Keizer] only 100 exist, and 25 of those will be prizes. the first 25 groups to finish will receive a coin. The remaining 75 have been being sold as souvenirs for $10 and if any are still available in August they may be purchased as well.
The way this one will go is registration will start at 1000. come by the Keizer Community Library booth at RiverFair [the aproximate coordinates of this cache listing] and sign your group in. at 1100 i will pass out a sheet with coordinates listed for a dozen caches, spread throughout the Keizer area. they are all amall regular caches containing a stamp and stamp pad. stamp the appropriate coordinates and replace the cache. the first 25 groups to bring back a sheet with 10 or more stamps receive a coin. not much more to it than that. the park where it begins will be full of interesting and exciting things to do and eat. live music, demonstrations, pie eating contest, that sort of thing. traditional small town fair. stick around after the caching and enjoy the festivities.
