Many years ago in the days when Sayward had her own schools a young teacher was making her way to town when she hit some ice on the S curves just up the hill from here. Fishtailing she ended up in the bush. The car was destroyed but she walked away with nothing injured but her pride. The students of course were a great encouragement to her and posted a big sign that remained on the location for many years. It read "TEACHER'S CORNER!"
