The Gulnair was a 3 mast schooner built in 1873 at Port Robinson, Ontario. Her dimensions were 142'x24'x11' and was carrying Millstones. She sank on July 15th 1892 in Ashtabula Harbor during a storm.
News accounts were sparse for the Gulnair. The Ashtabula Sentinel only gave the incident 3 sentences.
A severe storm prevailed on lake Erie friday afternoon and night. The Canadian schooner Gulnair went ashore at Woodland Beach Park, just east of Ashtabula harbor. She is valued at $5,000 and will be a total loss.
The Gulnail had been sunk at least one other time in 1882 but was successfully raised and sailed another ten years before her dimise in Ashtabula.
You will need a boat to get to this cache. Please use care when retrieving and putting back the cache.
There is a personal pathtag for FTF
