Point Ariel 2 Point Oh Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mike_NJ: It is with great sadness that I archive the sole Zombie Horde cache in NJ.

I have replaced this cache 4 times since it was most recently disabled. Each time, it disappears again within a couple days. Even moving it to a couple places within 75-100 feet in a new hiding place, it gets removed. Speculation as to the reasons for this aside, I'm sad to see this go.

This cache was active for 1984 days from Publishing through its last Disabled log and 2101 days as of today (the archival date).

It was 5.44 years old as of its last disabled date.

There were 20.66_ finds per year. 1.722_ per month.

Ratio of finds versus DNFs was 19.2:1.

I thank all who visited this lovely little park. I still will.

Geocache Description:

This park, conveniently situated off Erial Road, can't be classified as a "Tiny, Often Empty Park" because in reality, it isn't.

Often empty, that is. Or tiny, for that matter.

It's still a park. There's playground equipment, tennis courts and a paved walking trail.

Even the Old Erial School building still stands here, though it is only used as such for a preschool class.

Parking is accessed from the Old Mill Road side of the park, and it's a short walk to GZ. Stealth is a must, as the windows of a house look easily over the woods where this is located, and if you wander too far you might run into some of the three-leaf itcher plants. (ie Poison Ivy.)

While the cache is a basically camouflaged, round Lock'n'Lock container, difficulty was increased just for stealth reasons. Please do not remove the pen, as it is not swag. Thanks.

This park has a number of rules governed by town ordinance:

  • No Dogs Allowed
  • No Bikes
  • No Vehicles
  • No Alcohol
  • No Skateboarding

This is a Green Acres park, dedicated to permanent recreation and open space. For more information please go to www.njgreenacres.org.
