Geocache Description:

In August 2012 the UK Mega Event is coming to Cartmel in Cumbria. This evening event is one of a varied series of events supporting this Mega Event. It is hosted by Jan (janw7256), supported by other members of the North West Mega Event Team.

2012 UK Mega Event

Come and join us in for an evening devoted to our favourite nocturnal flying mammal, Bats!
For the kids, we have activities, including a paper bat hunt, based around the Rodeo Shack (or Scout Hut) in Cartmel Park.
For a limited number of people, there is a guided Bat Walk by volunteers from the Westmoreland & Furness Bat Group.

When & Where :
Wednesday 8th August 2012
Activities start at 8pm, the Westmoreland Bat Group will give a talk at 8:30pm, followed by the walk.
If you are not camping with us in Cartmel Park, we ask that you do not park in the Pay and Display Car Park, but drive into the Campsite (entrance south of the village), where you are welcome to park for free.

About the walk:
Places on the walk are limited to 30 people, though the talk beforehand is open to all, and the places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, according to the Will Attend logs below.
ALL PLACES HAVE BEEN TAKEN
If you miss out on the chance to see some bats on the walk, do not fret, as the Westmoreland & Furness Bat Group will be attending the Mega Event on Saturday with some live specimens that you can get up close to.
If you want a place on the walk, please state the number of people over the age of 11 in your team in your Will Attend Log (under 11s are welcome too)

How to get here?
By car:
From the A590 take the exit south of Low Newton and follow the yellow AA signs which will direct you into Cartmel Park.

Driving Directions

Please do not aim for the event coords on your Car Sat Nav, as this may take you on the narrow village roads. Use postcode LA11 7SE which will take you to the vehicle entrance.
The event will be signposted by Yellow AA Road Signs.
