Geocache Description:

This one requires you to jump over a railing. If it's at night, the railing is usually wet. While double-checking the coords today (6/30/12) there were tons of people and I didn't get a second look when I hopped the fence. So don't be afraid of muggles on this one! They can't see it. Try this idea. Orange safety vest from Home Depot and anything that looks like a construction helmut! Not a second look.

I want to first start off with the construction of the cache since it's important. It's a pvc pipe about two feet in length that's been camo'ed to look like an old metal pipe with a cap. When it was placed, most of it was visible. But now it's covered up with so much sand that only the top four inches are exposed. The actual cache container is a cut out section of the pipe and the part where it separates from the base can be a few inches below the sand level. So please dig a bit of sand away before removing, or the sand will pour into the base making it impossible to replace the container properly.

The container is not in view on the normal side of the railing. There is a long black 2 inch diameter conduit that runs the length of the jetty. I placed a Geocaching label there although it's getting weathered rather quickly. I wrapped clear tape around it, so look for that at GZ. That is where you make the jump. You will have to climb down the sand covered rip rap and there are large cavernous areas in between so exercise caution.

Seriously, this one isn't hard from a cache standpoint, but there is injury risk getting there as you can see from the picture I posted of my leg. Please be careful and have fun! Expect a minimum walk of 550 yards, or half a kilometer, from the nearest parking. The footing is above high tide as far as I've seen. It's been there over a half year and is still going strong. Hopefully the cache is above even the most unusual tidal events. I'm hoping that, considering the fact it's not a park and grab and takes straddling rocks that normally is reserved for mountainous caches, it might become a "must find" cache on the west side. I don't see this one being found more than once every month or two, so be one of the few!!

PLEASE NOTE THAT LOG AND LOG CONTAINER ARE MICROS AND AS SUCH PLEASE DO NOT PUT STICKERS ON THE LOG. CONGRATS TO TIMOTEO70 FOR BEING THE FTF!
