Paddlin' Power Trail 2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Inkwell: After much debate, we're deciding to let these ones go. The paddle caches have proved difficult to maintain and didn't get a ton of traffic so far this year. We wanted to open this area up to other cachers who might be interested in hiding paddle caches along the creek. Thanks for all of those who paddled after these caches!

Geocache Description:

Guess who got Kayaks?

With all of the paddle caches popping up around town these days, we decided to give it a go and hide a little series of our own; a paddlin' power trail if you will.

These caches are accessible by water only! If you try to get these via land, you'll be trespassing on private property, so don't bother trying!

This trail will take you on a scenic flat-water paddlin' tour of Tonawanda Creek. We set sail at West Canal Park and ended our journey in a small park off the Pendleton Bike Trail. You could also launch at Amherst Veteran's Canal Park if you're so inclined! There are plenty of options here when if comes to launching and none of them are wrong. This portion of the trail is about 4+ miles one way. Along the way, we saw plenty of wildlife doin' their thang; a trio of baby foxes, a couple of blue herons, some fish, a beautiful crane, many ducks and ducklings and a whole slew of other birds were spotted on our trip! So bring a camera if you'd like, plenty of water, a pen/pencil, some snacks and don't forget your PFD! (That's a life jacket for us paddle noobs)

We've hidden the caches in this series in a manner that should be easy to find. You should not have to get out of your boat to find any of the caches. You'll be looking for a camo'd match-stick container for each hide. Please be careful not to drop the log and be sure to bring your own writing utensil! Please note that we were passed by a few boats along the way, as this is a shared waterway, so be prepared!

Good luck, have fun and happy paddlin'!!! Look for more in the series soon! It's the summer of the paddle cache in WNY!!
