Colormydreams and I were enjoying the sights at the Manatawny Park when we happened upon 3 large mouth Bass blockaded in a small area against the edge of the river, with less than an inch of water.
At first glace we thought maybe a fisherman left them and was going to come back, but upon closer inspection it looked like it had been done several days before so it was probably by some teens when the water was higher and they forgot about them.
Unfortunately, with the drought conditions we've been having and the extreme heat, one of Bass was already dead and the other two were on their way. We removed the barricade and the water flowed freely giving the two fish some new enthusiasm, but they were still land locked. We were able to guide them to a bit deeper water and hope they are able to recuperate enough to survive.
I was thinking about placing a cache there because it's a really nice park with benches and the Manatawny nearby, but there's already a cache at that park. Then, Colormydreams discovered the fish and told me I need to make a cache for them. So, where to place a cache in memory/honour of our fishy friends????...we decided on this location because it still has the Manatawny river flowing through it and meets up with the other park -- which you should also visit if you get a chance.
