In the early days of Route 66 many travelers camped along the way. Several primitive auto camps sprung up on either side of Williams to serve the early tourists. One of those was Pine Springs Camp, in rural setting west of Williams. Pine Springs camp was on the 1926 alignment which was south of today's Interstate 40. Though this cache is not on the original site it is very near here.

Today this area serves as the headquarters for Pine Springs Ranch an active cattle ranch and the roadway is maintained by Coconino County.

This cache is part of the Historic Route 66 Geocaching Project, a series created by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and designated as an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission.
