Geocache Description:

You will be looking for a small round plastic sealed and camoflauged small item, money or key holder. Estas buscando un tubo corto y camuflado que puede contener cositas pequeñas.

The hotel is now called Emerald Green.

We came over to Colombia so Liz could reconnect with some of her high school friends, and so she could show me her country. She hasn't been back to Colombia for over 20 years, and she hasn't been to her hometown of Bogota for 30 years. So we came over to visit both Santa Marta and Bogota, we are staying here for a week each.
While we were here, we decided to do some caching of course and noticed there wasn't very many caches in Colombia. While watching some of the caches in Santa Marta, I noticed that one of our fellow Floridian geocachers went for one in Tayrona Park, and so I was asking him about it. He told me that we had to go visit Minca while we were here. Since there is not that many things to do here in Santa Marta we decided to take him up on this.

So while stopping in the middle of the town to get directions we came across one of owners of this resturant in Minca, he was telling us about the resturant his wife and he owned called Resturante La Concina D Rochi. So we went there for lunch (great food and resonable prices) and found it to be a great place to eat. They have several humming birds right near the back of the resturant. A few free roaming kitty cats. And a short hike down the trail next to the resturant you will find yourself on the rivers edge.

The husband Niall Smith gave us a great layout and descrption of Minca, along with sharing some of his homemade punch with us while we took pictures and his wife Rocio Hernandez made us lunch. We went a short ways down the road to visit a true Colombian coffee factory that has been there since the 1800's. There are lots of things to do here (swimming in mountain waters, hiking, bird watching etc.) in Minca, and this is a great starting location.

We decided to place a cache here to bring other cachers here to Minca to be able to enjoy this beautiful country and all it has to offer. We got approval from the owners to place the cache, and they also agreed to help maintain it. We left them some caches and logs to help us with the maintenance. This is near their home and resturant, so no night caching is allowed.

We have no doubt that you will enjoy the area, and hopefully this cache will bring you to the start of a great adventure here.
