Geocache Description:

The cache is located along an old rail bed that has been turned into a local trail called the Bruce County Rail Trail.

This section of the BCRT is covered in loose gravel and it is level enough for walking, but might be difficult on a bicycle.

HISTORY

The BCRT is aproximately 80 kilometers in length, so says the internet! The east leg is from Port Elgin, through Paisley, jogs over to Walkerton and down to the Bruce Huron county line and the west leg is from Port Elgin to Bruce Power. In the past, the trains would run through Port Elgin and over to Ontario Hydro (currently Bruce Power). Now the BCRT is used by walkers, horses, for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and the trail is well used by ATVs.

PARKING

Parking is available on the south side of the 4th concession in an off road area, before the trail gates.

DIRECTIONS

To find the cache box with the log and swag, you will first need to find the cache box with the clue. Once you have this in hand, simply follow the directions included inside. You will need to do a spelling test. If you pass your test, you will be rewarded with the information you need to find the log book. If you fail your spelling test, simply do a “make up” test, until you get it right! All the letters you need are included. 14 will come out of the box so make sure that 14 go back into the box! [PLEASE COUNT THEM AFTER THEY ARE IN THE BAG TO MAKE SURE ONE DID NOT FALL INTO THE LONG GRASS] No dictionary is required to complete this test, but you should bring an 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper or use a bandana to put your letters on. Please keep them dry and clean. Spelling Bee anyone!

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN...the pencils have been known to grow legs and escape!

NOTE: the landscape for the clue box is flat.
NOTE: GZ of Final, notoriously wanders for me here...maybe it's the electric fence along the eastern farm field boundary.
NOTE: if you spell correctly, you will remain on this trail

ATTRACTION: puzzle solving on the run...peaceful trail walk...other caches on this trail

PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF WHERE YOU ARE RETRIEVING THE CACHE CONTAINERS FROM, AND RETURN THEM TO THEIR EXACT LOCATIONS TO PREVENT MIGRATION...IN THIS CASE BOTH ARE OFF THE GROUND AND SUSPENDED IN THEIR CAGES.
