Nature Trust Ridge Trail: nature's underbelly Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

juniorwoodchuckhuey: This cache is seldom visited, and there really isn't a trail leading here anymore. It's time for this one to retire. The container has been removed. Cache on!

Geocache Description:

If you're looking for the NS Nature Trust caches in the areas, start with "Among the trees". "Nature's underbelly" is a bison tube in a "container" on a trail on the Wolfville Ridge property owned by the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. Placed with permission from the Nature Trust.  You can touch the cache from the trail.

Congrats to 4CeasonS on FTF!!!

Feb 2019 update: replacement cache in place - different container and new hint.

The cache is along a trail that runs parallel to the Ridge Road.  Two additional waypoints provided are parking and a point on the initial logging road where you turn east and follow a small trail.  If you prefer, you can continue another 5m past this waypoint and follow a more well-defined trail that initially leads southeast and then turns east.  Both lead to the same location, though the small trail passes by the "Wolfville Ridge" geocache.

In the summer it can be buggy in the woods. Ticks are a possibility though I haven't seen any in this location myself.

I am pleased to also provide the following information from the Nova Scotia Nature Trust:

This cache is on property protected by the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. The Nature Trust is a nature conservation charity founded in 1994 with the goal of preserving Nova Scotia’s last best wild places on privately owned lands. This property was generously donated to the Nature Trust by Dr Eric Cleveland in 1998 to protect a portion of Acadian forest along the Wolfville Ridge. The property is stewarded by the Wolfville Regional Working Group: a team of keen naturalists in the area. To find out more about the Nova Scotia Nature Trust please visit our website www.nsnt.ca
