Geocache Description:

S-53, Clear Creek, PA was established on May 30, 1933, near the confluence of Clear Creek and the Clarion River. Company 353 planted 900,000 trees – mostly red pine, scots pine, larch, and spruce – in 1934 alone. They also created a dam and swimming area about one mile upstream of the camp. By 1936 they had constructed cabins on the outskirts of the camp area, as well as cabins within the camp area that were used by Officer personnel and Forestry personnel as living quarters (present day cabins 6, 7, 8, & 9 – photo above) and offices. This camp closed December 15, 1937.

Stage one of this multi-cache can be found by doing a 180 about face and about 180 feet from the view above. The coordinates for the final stage can be found somewhere on the blacksmith’s shop (small log building) behind the amphitheater. Final stage is in a less used remnant of the CCC era of the park.
