A slightly sneaky hide in an often passed over beach park.
Sitting on the coast of Honu`apo Bay, the site of Whittington Beach Park was twice devastated by tsunamis.
The first, in 1868 wiped out what was left of a declining fishing village, eventually making way for the sugar companies to convert the area into a transportation hub for shipping sugar out by boat, eventually even laying a railroad track directly to the wharf. By the 1930's, most sugar was hauled out by truck, making the wharf and pier obsolete, and it was ultimately destroyed by the tsunami of 1946.
Presently, a typical day at Whittington Beach Park will find fisherman near the wharf remains, and kids and families swimming in the protected fish ponds a few yards up the coastline. (The bay itself is known for a strong current and powerful breakers, so swimming in the bay is not a good idea!)
The cache itself is a micro hidden near the parking area. Log only, so bring a pen...good luck!
