A short walk from the ball fields...
I had the pleasure of working with Alan for about 15 years at the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Alan was one of my mentors and a good friend. Alan started his bus driving duties in the mid 1970s, before that he was a Marine helicopter pilot in Vietnam. That experience definitely influenced some of his Alanisms. One of the most popular and often heard was, "Woppity, woppity! Sound of Freedom!". As you might guess, this was yelled at the top of the lungs anytime a helicopter flew over the zoo. From this location you will often see helicopters to the west doing maneuvers. It made me think of Alan. Enjoy!
