The purpose of the cache is to let you see a view of the area and see just how beautiful this area is. It is an easy find but a few bumps getting there.
We decided to place our first cache after a weekend of camping and exploring the many forest service roads in the area. Most of the roads were closed, but the road to this one is open and published on any forest service map. We named the cache Firewatch, as you can see the four distinct foundations of what we believe is an old forest service firewatch lookout. It may have been something else but the view speaks volumes as to the purpose. Three of the four foundations are covered in vegitation, and the fourth has been moved to accomodate vehicles. You can drive to within a few feet of the cache, but an ATV or a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The road is good in most parts except for a few small stretches with rocks and bumps. There is one rock in particular to watch for about 3/4 of the way up on the left side of the road. It could grab a tire easily if you do not see it. Plenty of room to get around it just be aware. From the start of the dirt road (NF-158) on Fish Creek Road, it is about 2 miles to the cache with an elevation gain of approximately 1000 feet. The turn off to this road (NF-158) is on the W/NW side of the Fish Creek Road (NF-082) about 2 miles past NF-092.
We made the cache easy to find as you will want to spend your time taking photos rather than searching for a hard to find cache. Bring your camera! The cache has a log and a pen in a plastic bag, along with some toys for the little ones (maybe even the big ones). I wanted to place a great trinket for the FTF but just did not have alot of resources at the time. I hope you love the view as much as we did. This cache is not acccessible during the winter.
