Geocache Description:

A chirping adventure in Benicia State Park.

Benicia enjoys a rich diversity in birdlife, from migratory and resident waterfowl to a bald eagle seen and photographed recently off of West 6th Street.
But the rarest of these is the Benicia Bird, which is never seen because it lives in a parallel time-contracted dimension; it simply moves too fast for our optic nerves to register an image. However, the B-Bird is able to leave us physical evidence of its existence and in this case can do so by providing the coordinates to the final stage of this mystery cache. To obtain the coordinates, get yourself and your wireless-enabled GPS device within 10 meters of the posted coordinates and be patient. Soon the B-Bird will pass by (invisibly) and transmit the coordinates to you via the biologic transponder located at the base of its pituitary gland.

The initial coordinates can be reached in near-drive-by fashion. Although parking is not allowed here you will only need a few minutes to access the B-Bird's message. Once you have the coordinates you can decide how to approach the final. If the park is open to vehicular traffic (currently 8AM to sundown Th, Fri, Sat, Sun with $6.00 fee) you will be able to drive very near to the cache. If the park is closed, and it may "permanently" close in the near future, access will be limited to foot and bicycle. The parking coordinates given are for the park's formal parking lot which has street access nearby. This will require a healthy, albeit mainly flat, walk.

The cache container is a big fat ammo can but is well concealed; please replace as found. Take time to enjoy the unusual surroundings, you might even find a Benicia Bird feather lying about.
