The Field Maple is mostly encountered where it has been planted along road side verges and in more urban areas. It is ideally suited to these situations being able to cope well with pollution and producing attractive smallish trees. Ecologically it is less important than the other two trees in this series supporting only a few invertebrate species most of which are not specific to it.
