Geocache Description:

On the east side of this old
rail bridge and a nice geo
walk from one side to the other.
Zach and Nich say
"congratulations" and enjoy
the view.

Our first hide - A 1978
silver Canadian dollar for
the first to find! And our
gratitude for introducing
us to this great activity.
We've only just begun!!

When I was a kid, we
called this bridge the
Black Bridge for obvious
reasons. It provides a
great view of the
Chateauguay river up and
downstream. Upstream
waters originate in New
York state and snake
through the farm country
of southern Quebec with
its funky mix of anglo,
franco and other Euro
influences (Howick,
Huntingdon, St Martine,
etc.). Upstream the
Chateauguay river splits
in two flowing around the
beautiful Ile St Bernard - a
Chateauguay treasure for
walkers and photogs
(and Geocachers) and a
protected bird and wildlife
sanctuary.

Even though these tracks
are no longer passable for
rail traffic, many people
swear that late at night, if you
remain very still and quiet,
you can sometimes hear the
whistle of an approaching train.

Notre première cache – Le
premier qui la trouvera se
méritera un dollars canadien
argent daté de 1978. Et notre
gratitude pour nous avoir
initié à cette activité
palpitante. Ce n’est qu’un
début!

Lorsque j’étais enfant, nous
appelions ce pont
«le pont noir» pour une raison
évidente. Vous y avez une
superbe vue de la rivière
Châteauguay.

Même si la voie ferrée a été
condamnée il y a plusieurs
années, certaines personnes
jurent que tard la nuit ils
entendent souvent le train siffler.
