Geocache Description:

This cache has been adopted from familytus as they have moved out of the area and unable to offer maintenance. I hate to see caches get archived so have adopted this cache. Thanks to familytus for giving me this opportunity. The cache is at the beginning of Wigg Island, in between the the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal. From here, you are overlooking Fiddler's Ferry power station which, in 2020, after almost 50 years the power station was decommissioned. In it's day, Fiddler's Ferry power station had the capacity to power all the homes in Liverpool and Manchester with electrical energy. The station had 8 massive cooling towers before 4 of then were demolished on 3rd December 2023. The detonation could be heard up to 15 miles away. To get to the cache you can ride, walk or cycle over the Manchester Ship Canal bridge but be patient as the traffic lights are set on long delay - long enough to get a good view. Bring your camera and why not take a few piccies? The river and area have some exciting views and wildlife.  It depends on the tide, weather and time of day too.  ENJOY the view. You are looking for a test tube type container. There is amble parking opposite the GZ. Watch out for muggles as it is a popular area for dog walkers and cyclists.
