Geocache Description:

Purple Ammo can

This series is dedicated to some of the cities and towns in Illinois that have significance to us (bocono and G-Ma-O ) . Some are small cities and others are wide spots on the road , all are special to us. Some we were born in , went to school , got married , or just lived and grew up in. Since you can't go home again we wanted to bring these memories nearby and we hope you have fun finding these caches and learning about our part of the world.
A special thankyou to Crazyteacher for her help placing these caches

Wilmington is nestled in the middle of the beautiful Kankakee River Valley, 52 miles south of Chicago. Much of its beauty and charm is attributed to the ideal location on the Kankakee River. The Kankakee River's northwest flow makes it a rarity among Illinois Rivers. Outdoor recreation is perhaps the biggest attraction the Wilmington area has to offer. The Wilmington neighborhood offers boating and fishing, and the nearby Des Plaines Conservation Area has 4,500 huntable regions.

Wilmington is a city that takes pride in its heritage. Settled in the early 1830's, Wilmington was incorporated as a municipality in 1865. The City features historic buildings that date back to the mid 1800's. Attracting collectors from all over are the 20 some Antique Shops.
