Stokke kirke Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

English version:
Stokke church is a long church from 1886, drawn by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. Prior to this church, there was another one at this siting, a small middle age church with thick walls. A wooden church was also most likely built here, at an old place of worship, when Christianity came to Norway. From 1673 to 1883 the church was owned by the Earl of Jarlsberg, it was then sold to local farmers and it was decided that the church should be torn down and a bigger one build. The new church was dedicated in November 1886 and had then 600 seats. The church was refurbished in the 1960s, both outside and inside.Today Stokke church is a popular place for concerts.
