While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocaches which have not been maintained or the owner has not responded will not be taken out of the archive

Keiservarden er et av Bodøs mest besøkte turmål på grunn av nærhet og en fantastisk utsikt.

Keiservarden er et yndet turmål på grunn av den vide utsikten, ikke bare ut over havet, men over Bodøhalvøya, Saltenfjorden, Børrvasstidan og endog inn til toppene på Saltfjellet og grensefjella i Sulitjelma.
Det er flere veier opp til Keiservarden. De mest vanlige veiene går fra Turisthytta og Maskinisten.
Fra Turisthytta går første del av turen i åpent skogterreng. Følg bomveien langs vest- og nordsiden av Øvre Vollvatnet og Skytterdalen. Ved et par myrpytteer like ovenfor de øverste hyttene tar en mindre, men lett synlig, sti av til høyre mot Keiservarden. Når du da kommer over tregrensa så kan du unne deg noen stopp med en fantatastisk utsikt. På klarværsdager kan du faktisk se helt bort til Værøy.
Fra Maskinisten følger man veien helt opp til toppen. Veien brukes i dag mye av forsvaret.
Keiservarden er også et mye brukt startpunkt for hang- og paraglidere. Det avholdes dessuten en årlig konsert på toppen under Nordland Musikkfestuke.

English version
Keiservarden is a popular destination because of the wide view, not only out of the sea, but over Bodø peninsula, Saltenfjord, Børrvasstidan and even to the tops of the Saltfjellet and cross the mountains in Sulitjelma. There are several routes up to Keiservarden. The most common system goes from Turisthytta and Maskinisten.
From Turisthytta is the first part of the trip in open woodland. Follow road along the west and north of the Upper Vollvatnet and Skytterdalen. On a couple marshpuddles just above the upper cabins take a smaller, but easily visible path to the right towards Keiservarden. Then when you get above the tree line so you can treat yourself to a stop with a fantatastisk view. On clear days you can actually see all the way over to Værøy.
From Maskinisten follow the road all the way up to the top. The road is currently used a lot of military. Keiservarden is also a popular starting point for hang-and paragliders. It also held an annual concert atop the Nordland Music Festival.

The walk is about 5km roundtrip and takes about 1-2.5h normal walking.
