Geocache Description:

A fine and steep hike amid mosquitos and wildflowers to a wonderful viewpoint.

Clearwater Peak overlooks the city of Clearwater and is often referred to by locals as Grizzly Peak, which although higher than Clearwater Peak, is behind it and cannot be seen from town. To access this cache head west over the Clearwater River on the Old E North Thompson Highway. Immediately after the bridge turn right on Camp 2 Road. Proceed 13.5 km up Camp 2 Road to Road 840, faintly marked on the sign. The back of the sign says km 13.5 in clearer letters. Camp 2 Rd is an active logging road so stay on your own side and watch for logging trucks both coming toward you and overtaking you. Proceed up Road 840 for 4.5 km to a rough road which branches to the right. Park here unless you have a quad or want to try your chances with a serious 4X4. Follow the road to its end about an hour away. You will see just above you a BC Ambulance repeater and the area where the cache is hidden. It is worth the short walk to the cairn on top of the true summit of Clearwater Peak (1916m) which you can see from the repeater.
