Geocache Description:

Part of the Haggis Highway trail and part of a series of events as shown below, please do not look for or log this cache before Thursday 4th October.

Thank you and happy caching from the Highland Haggi team.

To celebrate the creation of this section of the Haggis Highway events will take place on 13th and 14th October 2012.

The events are as follows:
Inverness ~ Dinner GC3PYR5 - Saturday 13th October from 17:00, 18:00 for dinner
Bridge of Brown ~ Lunch GC3PRW9 - Sunday 14th October from 12 noon ~16:00

A quick cache and dash in a spot favoured by Fly Fishermen just down from the Kilmorack Hydro-Electric Power Station.

I have driven over this bridge many times but never stopped until now to place a cache!  There is parking just after the bridge in a layby for about four cars, also there is a small carpark on the opposite side of the road although there maybe many fisher muggles there.  If you walk though this carparking area you will find the entrance to the old Kiltarlity Cemetery and Parish Church which is now a ruin but very interesting nonetheless.

For such a small area there is certainly a lot of interesting things to see. You can safely walk along the bridge behind the barriers to watch the fishermen & women casting their lines for salmon.  You can get a good view of the Kilmorack Power Station or take a short walk through to the old ruined church on the opposite side of the bridge. There were Red Kites circling overhead when I placed the cache and speaking to a local fisher muggle the area is frequented by Osprey and there are also nesting Buzzards nearby.  You might be lucky enough to see some leaping salmon if you look down over the bridge, I spotted around a dozen whilst I was there.  You can even have a walk along the riverbank but please take care if you have dogs as the fishermuggles might not be too happy if the fishing waters are disturbed by dogs splashing about, especially as they pay to fish this river.
