First of our planned series "Queanbeyan To Coast" that will take you from the Queanbeyan Turnoff through Captains Flat, and out to Braidwood.

A quick drive by cache.
With only 10kms diffence in distance, Travelling to Braidwood via Captains Flat makes a great alternative to the Kings Highway. In fact this route is often used as a detour for coast traffic when trouble stikes the Kings Hwy between Bungendore and Braidwood. The only downfall is the road quality isn't fantastic and there is around 20kms of dirt road after you leave Captains Flat.
Captains Flat is a small historic mining village situate on the Molonglo River. Various commodities where mined in "The Flat" from around 1882 through to the 9th of March, 1962. I hope to provide some snippets of history as we work on our complete cache series.
