Friluftsavdelinga har om lag 30 bygningar som mellom anna viser ein gard og ein husmannsplass frå Sunnfjord på midten av 1800-talet. Med dei andre bygningane viser friluftsavdelinga eit tidsspenn i byggjeskikk frå 1500-talet til 1900-talet.
I tillegg til husa har museet kring 10 000 registrerte gjenstandar frå 1900-talet og bakover. Vidare har museet ei fotosamling på om lag 5000 lokale bilete, i tillegg til at samlinga til fotografen Olai Fauske er lagra på museet. Denne inneheld om lag 8500 negativar og om lag 9000 positivar. Sunnfjord Museum lagrar også ein del av Fylkesarkivet i Sogn og Fjordane sitt materiale som er knytt til Sunnfjord. Dessutan inneheld museet eit fagbibliotek med fleire tusen bøker og tidsskrift.
I opningstidene til museet kan ein få omvising både i dei gamle bygningane og i utstillingane innandørs. Friluftsmuseet er allment tilgjengeleg også utanfor opningstid.

Sunnfjord Museum is located in Movika in the municipality of Førde, Sogn og Fjordane County. It is the regional museum of the municipalities in inner Sunnfjord, i.e. Førde, Naustdal, Jølster, Gaular and Fjaler. The museum opened in the centre of Førde in 1926, following an initiative from Sunnfjord Historical Society (founded in 1910). In 1950–51, it was moved to the smallholding Movika by the lake Movatnet.
The outdoor department consists of about 30 buildings, most of them constituting a farm and a smallholding from Sunnfjord in the mid 1800s. Held together with the other buildings, they show building traditions spanning from the 1500s to the 1900s.
In addition to the houses, the museum has around 10,000 registered objects from the 1900s and earlier. Furthermore, the museum has a collection of about 5000 local photographs, in addition to the collection of the photographer Olai Fauske, which is stored at the museum. This contains about 8500 negatives and 9000 positives. Sunnfjord Museum is also storing parts of the Sogn og Fjordane County Archives’ material that is related to the Sunnfjord area. Besides that, the museum contains a library of several thousand books and journals.
In the opening hours of the museum, it is possible to have guided tours both in the old buildings and in the indoor exhibitions, but the outdoor department has public access also outside opening hours.
