This cache has been archived.

HighDesertGeocachers: Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the class. Thanks to Phelan Pinon Hills Community Services District for the accommodations and refreshments. We all know we are all suckers for some flavored fuzzy sugar water and snacks.

The next big HDGC event will be held on 12-12-12 at the Golden Corral in Hesperia (GC3W63C). Hope to see you all there!

Classes are always encouraged, keep them coming!

Geocache Description:

Introduction to Geocaching

superb-beautiful-old-maps-desktop-wallpaper

Ever had questions about geocaching and didn't have anyone to turn to for answers? Did you ever wonder what geocaching is and what all the hoopla is all about? Questions like ..... What is it when....? Why would ....? Who can.....? When do I....? Most importantly, How....? Thinking about trying Geocaching and wondering where to start? Already a geocacher and would like to pick someone's brain?

It's happening again!, Phelan Pinon Hills Community Services District is hosting another Geocaching related workshop with the assistance of the High Desert Geocachers.

Saturday, August 11, 2012 10am to 11:30am at:
Phelan Community Center
4176 Warbler Road
Phelan, CA 92371

We'll cover topics like:

What is Geocaching
How it got started
Types of Caches
Finding your First Cache
Travel Bugs and Geocoins
Caching Ethics
GPS use, what to buy
Abbreviations

It may look overwhelming but we'll keep it simple. With the support from a few local geocachers, BigDaddyGRC & Nascarfamily5, you will get your questions answered here. We invite everyone to attend, muggles (those who are not geocachers, taken from the Harry Potter series) and geocachers. Come meet other geocachers. We don't claim to know it all but we may be able answer those tough questions. Challenge us, don't be shy! After the presentation we will have some hands-on field exercises and open discussions. Parking is free. Entrance is free. This event is free. It doesn't get any better than that! Please act quickly, seats are limited. Please "will attend" and provide us with how many in your group. We hope to see you there!
