How many times have you stopped and stared at shiny green leaves on a vine and debated - "Is it poison ivy or just Virginia Creeper"? This quick and easy cache is placed near a set of informational signs that discuss the various flora and fauna that you might encounter on the trail. This is your chance to learn to identify which of those common vines can cause you to break out in red itchy blisters and therefore should be avoided, and which should not stop you from reaching your cache.
The cache is located in a small trailhead park on the Waterford Golf Course end of the Manchester Trail. It is one of a number of caches along this trail, which is a neat walking path connecting the Waterford Golf Course area and River Park. The Manchester Trail is wide and well mulched with a small part paved, and much of the time offers beautiful close-up views of the Catawba River. The trail itself is a bit over 1 mile in length and there are a number of additional trails and caches throughout River Park. This is an excellent trail for kids and families.
The cache is a 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inch lock&lock container and you may need to bring your own pen. Please watch for muggles and return the cache carefully so it is not easily noticed by the frequent lunchtime visitors to the park..
