The NoOneGoes series of geocaches are all located at historical landmarks in the small community of Palmerston, Ontario. The postal code N0G 2P0 has been jokingly associated with "No One Goes 2 Palmerston Ontario". Hopefully these caches bring people out to see the beauty of this quiet little town I call home. Cache is a magnetic nano
The site of this cache holds a lot of lost history; the trail leads to the "Y" which was built to allow larger trains the ability to turn around without the use of a roundhouse. What many people don't know is this was also the site of a branchline that was to be built by the Stratford and Huron Railway. Granted $15,000 by the town council in 1878, the company worked in haste at building a line north which then turned east towards White's Junction roughly 1 mile north of the town. Plans included a station and workshops however the company went bankrupt before completing the line. The tracks were abandoned, however looking at satellite images you can still see where the line would have been. Also at this site to the northeast was the location of numerous mills in the late 1800's. At one time there was a flour, grist and woolen mill.
