Getting Really Hungry
1 Samuel chapter 21 relates the story of King David, fleeing from Saul and arriving at the sanctuary at Nob in need of food. Finding the priest Ahimelech, David narrates his need for nourishment to the native Nobbian.
David's band was bellowing belligerently for a butcher shop to buy a bull for barbeque, but none was about.
The priest perceived the patriarch and his pals were plenty peckish, but the pantry pickings were pretty paltry!
Sadly, sustenance was scarce, save the show bread set aside for sacrifice.
Ahimelech mentioned to the monarch that the men mustn't munch the manna if marital minglings had been made since Monday morning.
David declared that he denied the dudes delicate dealings with dainty damsels while on duty.
Ahimelech acquiesced and allowed the army access to all the aforementioned appetite appeasements.
