A small cache in the National Park at a historic site that the bush has reclaimed.
The Ovens & Murray Advertiser; Jan 1859 reports the cold blooded murder of Joseph Hartwig. The first of its kind on the Indigo Goldfields. After dispensing a load of vegetables from Wooragee on a bullock and dray, Joseph was shot in the throat by a revolver. His pockets were cut out and waist band torn open and robbed of about 16 pounds. The English Oak tree on Eureka Hill marks the grounds of the Eureka Hotel. Information about the killers and the trial can be read about on the boards inside the Chiltern Athenaeum. From the signs at the above coordinates on the door, window and wall, transcribe the coordinates for the location of the cache.
