The listed coordinates will take you to the parking lot of the Roscoe Ewing Park.
As the description implies, this is an automated texting adventure that will ultimately lead you to the hidden cache.
Once you arrive at the posted coordinates, text
GCSMS to 368638
from your cell phone to get started. You will then receive a reply back with the first question that you must answer to proceed. There will be a total of 8 questions throughout the adventure, with the final question revealing the coordinates of the cache. The answers to the questions, as well as the cache are all located within the park. When you reply back your answers, you must reply as follows:
GCSMS {Answer}
For example, If your answer to one of the questions is 'oak', then you would text:
GCSMS oak to 368638
The reponses you send are not case sensitive.
Here are a few texts that you can send right now to see how it works:
GCSMS Info
GCSMS help
GCSMS FTF
If you send a response without prefixing it with GCSMS, you'll receive a message that says, "This website is not yet optimized for SMS", or you may receive a message from another server. So it's very important to use the GCSMS prefix when sending your replies.
Notes about the texting system:
This is completely free. You will not incur any charges on your cell phone unless you pay your wireless carrier for each text you send or receive. If you have an unlimited texting plan, which I believe most people do, there is no charge for completing this adventure. The system is programmed on my personal website, and is driven by dotgo.com. No personal information, i.e. your cell number will be stored or collected. If you have a concern about this, you can use the online simulator from your PC that will act in place of your cell phone for sending and receiving the texts. Make sure you select DOTNET 368638 from the To menu on the simulator before sending your responses. Of course if you go this route, you'll need to bring your laptop along and have an active internet connection, or leave the park and return home to receive the next leg of the adventure. Or you could have someone at home with an internet connection that you could call, and have them run the simulator as you answer the questions. The simulator will also run from a smartphone web browser as well.
But again, I'm not collecting any information if you use your cell, so you can feel safe that this is just another way to enjoy Geocaching.
