Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the listed coordinates, but isn't far. This cache is the usual small Systema with a few items to swap. There are several streets nearby with parking available, and plenty of room for the kids and dog to run around. This is my third cache in a series themed around another great love of mine, heavy metal.

To find this cache, you must answer a number of questions. These questions are based around the bands that fit into the category of Thrash Metal, a genre whose sound was built on that of its predecssors in the NWOBHM. Thrash metal built the foundations for many new extreme sub genres to emerge. Answers can easily be found with a quick Google search.

Q1) In 1981, James Hetfield responded to an ad in the newspaper The Recycler posted by local drummer Lars Ulrich. Having met and jammed together for several months, they recorded a song for a compilation album released by Metal Blade Records. In October that year, the two officially formed a band under the name Metallica, how many months after the two first met?

Ans x 7 – 1 = AA

Q2) After Leaving Metallica in 1983, Dave Mustaine went on to create his own band Megadeth, with guitarist Dave Ellefson. As of 2016, Megadeth have been active for how many years?

Ans -1 = BB

Q3) During the mid-to-late 80's when thrash metal began to gain a major following, Anthrax and a number of other bands were dubbed the “Big __”.

Q4) After contracting necrotizing fasciiti in early 2011, Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman temporarily left the band. They played their first show without Hanneman at the Brisbane Soundwave Festival that year, with Gary Holt from Exodus filling the spot. As of 2012, Slayer have had how many guitarists?

Ans x 15 – 1 = DD

Q5) Hailing from Essen, Germany, Kreator was one of the three biggest thrash metal bands to come from the Teutonic Thrash Metal scene. Their debut album Endless Pain was recorded in how many days?

Ans x 3 = EE

Q6) Released in 1989, Teasments third album, Practice What You Preach, centres lyrically on politics and society, particularly the religious state of the US at the time. The album art for this record features a number of figures standing on scorched land a la Christ at his crucifixion. How many figures are shown here?

Ans x 2 - 3 = F
