Geocache Description:

The Cliffs of Moher as not many people have seen them. A wonderful landscape with the most amazing scenic views - it doesn't get much better than this. This is a very rewarding little walk away from the busy tourist path, it offers surprising & secret views onto the headland where the cache was hidden formerly.

To get to the cache, you should park the car at the Liscannor community sports field (turn off the R478 at the Rock Shop, Liscannor, and take the third road on the right). From there, you walk further up the road or take the scenic but longer route along the shore. You would be aiming for the Moher Tower which is visible from afar.

You can also drive past the community field up to the last house and walk for a few minutes from there. Please note that there is a busy €2 private car park at the last house. There are stiles which allow safe passage between the car park and the cliffs. You can make it into a loop walk when continuing on the cliff path to the cache and past it. It is definitely the path less travelled!

Please be extra careful in high winds, as they change all the time and can come from all sides depending on where you stand. The path to the cache is not suitable for small or boisterous kids, so IF you decide to bring them, chain them to yourself! There are a few spots along the way which bring you very close to the edge, so really do be extra careful. It's a long way down.

Please, please hide the cache container again in the same way you found it! And please close the lid properly, it's a wet spot. Twice the cache disappeared, so please hide it properly and in the spot you found it. Don't hide it somewhere else just because you think it would be a better spot!!

Tip for even a better view: Go past the cache GZ and look over to the headland. You will see a sea arch which is right underneath the former GZ. You can continue from here and do a loop walk.

This is the view from a boat. You can see the sea arch if you go a bit past the cache:

Here the link to a video that shows the former GZ spot - Hags Head - from above (from 2:00 and later again)

This can be the first of a row of caches hidden along the coast going north if you want to make a walk (over two days) out of it. There is a brandnew path from Hags Head past the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre to Doolin. At the CoM visitor centre area, there is Earth Cache at the visitor centre of the Cliffs of Moher, then "Doonagore Cliffs". This would probably be a day's walk, with a well deserved stay in Doolin (traditional music!). Then there is "The Atlantic Rocks", "The Rusty Eye" and "Discover Oughtdarra", "The Lost Village", and finally "Murrough Shore", the last two situated in Fanore. - Alternatively, all caches can be reached from the main road and a bit of walking.
