I would have liked to known you, but I was just a kid.
Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did.
Hard to believe 50 years have passed.
My other Multicache in this Gameland (wear Orange) was getting a little lonely in this big space, so when I was inspired to hide this one, I decided to place it here to provide company for "If You Place A Multicache Will They Come" This Multi can even be worked in between Stages of "Will They Come" if you want to do both caches at the same time. The water was VERY LOW today, but even when the water is high, a little exploration will allow you to adapt. There are options.
Stage 1 is at the listed cache page coordinates. I have included all the informative Waypoints here that were also listed in the "Will They Come" Multi. The original SGL marker that had alerted me to the Trail boundary is now gone, but I was able to find other remaining boundary evidence after a short search.
Stage 1 is about midway between the Primary parking area and the Secondary parking area. About a half mile walk either way. This is a case where doing this cache as a stand alone Multi, the Secondary parking area might be a good option (except the trail can be quite wet after recent rain, and you would miss all the little shops in the Village). I found this on the web: The tiny village of St. Peter's makes you feel as if you've just stepped back into another era in history. All the homes and businesses look very similar to the way they looked when they were built in the 1800's.
If you decide to use the Primary parking area, and have already done the original Multi, you can still turn this into a nice loop if you can remember the trail out for that one. There are other ways out of here, but I really don't like any of them.
While Stage 1 is only about 10 feet off the trail, and the nearby Final is only about 130 feet off the trail, THIS IS NOT A KID FRIENDLY CACHE. Getting close on the trail does require just a a little stamina, but that last 130 feet is very rocky. I did leave a few trinkets in this cache so finders can take something to move to a kid friendly cache, or even as a hiking reward for cachers that might choose to stay out by the trail. Either way, Multicaches half a mile from parking don't get many visitors.
The Stage 1 container is a "SMALL" size (I don't do Micros). Working your way to the Final GZ through the rock field can be a little challenging. So , at Stage 1, in addition to the clear numerical DD MM,.mmm coordinates for the Final container there is also an extra clear text "clue" to help you visually better identify the search area for the Final. It will help you spot a prominent landmark (which some finders have decided they needed to identify in their find log) about 20 feet distant from the Final container. This landmark is NOT visible from Stage 1, and it is probably not visible from any point on the trail certain times of the year.
I can NOT emphasize this enough. DO NOT TRY TO SOLVE THIS AS A PUZZLE - IT IS NOT A PUZZLE - IT IS NOT A CYPHER - IT IS NOT A BRAIN TEASER - IT IS A TRICK. Figure out the magicians trick. There in no smoke. There is no mirror. I suppose at best it could be described as a mind game. As soon as you start treating what you do see as a puzzle, you have been beaten.
I wrote more about this soon after publication. That historical information is still available to read. Feel free to scroll all the way down to that old complete log if you are interested. Otherwise this edit will make the germane information available to more searchers in the field.
There is still quite a bit of mystery surrounding events from Aug 5, 50 years ago. I thought it would be appropriate to add a little mystery to this cache, and it had to fall within my very own personal definition of a Multi cache. To me that means avoiding completely the concept of solving a puzzle to DETERMINE follow up stage coordinates. SO, I came up with a little gimmick trying to trick you. All the tools AND clear text coords to find the Final are right there at Stage 1. Just give it some extra thought. This "trick" thing is not supposed to be rocket science. If you find Stage 1 but can't figure out where to search for the Final, you are over thinking the problem. There is only one possible "solution", and I really could have made it a little bit harder. It might take a keen eye to notice the difference. There is a little further discussion of this in the hint. You are intended to find it by way of coordinates, but it seems my little trick has worked better than I expected at times. But word will get out soon enough.
