The Saint John's Church is a Lutheran (Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession in Romania) church located at Mitropoliei Street, Sibiu.
[EN] The whole complex of buildings was built between 1881 and 1883 to serve as an orphanage for the Evangelic C.A. community. The Neo-Gothic church was built in 1883, on the 400 years anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther. Between 1911 and 1912, it was demolished due to the danger of it collapsing and a new church was built along with a house for the priest. At the same time, the construction works on Bastionului Street continued. The church has the shape of a cross, the octagonal tower of the steeple being situated in the northern part and the four towers on the corners were preserved. The edifice preserves today its aspect from the 20th century.
[RO] Biserica Sf. Ioan (Sf. Johannis) este situată pe str. Mitropoliei din Sibiu. Ea este o biserică evanghelică de confesiune augustană (luterană) construită în anul 1912. A fost ridicată pe locul unei biserici mai vechi, datând din perioada 1881-1883 şi care fusese demolată ca urmare a faptului că prezenta pericol de prăbuşire. Lânga ea a fost construit un orfelinat evanghelic, în care astăzi funcţionează Centrul Cultural "Fr. Teutsch". In curtea bisericii se mai păstrează o parte din zidul ce forma a treia centură de fortificaţii a Cetătii Sibiului.

[DE] Johanniskirche Die Kirche ist auf der Fleischergasse (Mitropoliei) gelegen. Der gesamte Gebäudekomplex wurde 1881-1883 als Waisenhaus der evangelischen Kirchengemeinde erbaut. 1883, aus Anlass des 400.Jahrestags der Geburt Martin Luthers, wurde die Kirche in neugotischem Stil errichtet. 1911-1912 wurde sie wegen Einsturzgefahr abgetragen und eine neue Kirche mit Pfarrwohnung gebaut. Gleichzeitig wurden auch die Arbeiten an den Gebäuden bei der Soldischbastei weitergeführt. Die Kirche hat einen kreuzförmigen Grundriss. An der Nordseite steht der achteckige Glockenturm mit den vier verbliebenen Ecktürmchen. Der Bau bietet heute das gleiche Bild wie Anfang des 20.Jhs.
[HU] A Szent János (Johannis) templom a nagyszebeni Mitropoliei utcán áll. Az eredeti (18811-1883) evangélikus (luteránus) templomot az összeomlás veszélye miatt lebontották. Helyére épült a mostani evangélikus templom 1912-ben. Mellette van a volt árvaház épülete, melyben ma a "Fr. Teutsch" Kulturális Központ működik. A templom udvarán láthatóak a várost körülvevő harmadik védőfalrendszer maradványai.
