Riverbank Ramble
International Geocaching Day 2012

This cache is to compliment our Event on 30th August 2012 to celebrate International Geocaching Day 2012. As our Event is not on the date itself, we’re placing this one so that cachers attending our Event can log it to get the Souvenir. It also works in well with the caches already in the area to complete a ‘loop’ of caches available on both sides of the river.



This is a beautiful walkway from Kowhai Park right to the town bridge. For those wishing to do a walking caching trip, you could do a round trip of the bridges. Park your car at Kowhai Park and do the ones in there and pick this one up on your way to the town bridge, over and back down past the iSite (grab a coffee along the way, and if it’s a Saturday stop into the riverfront market), do the Challenge at the globe, then carry on to do the 4 or so on the other side of the river (although there are more in town within a block from the river), walk back across Dublin St bridge, past the mini golf, past the fisherpeople, through the park and back to your car. No parking or traffic hassles and you could easily collect 10 or more caches in the trip.

GZ is on a main road. The walkway is protected from the road and well used (and muggles can appear suddenly) so you may have to employ a few charades in order to retrieve the cache. There is no need to go down any banks or search the wall and the cache is within easy reach. It is a nano and there’s pretty much nowhere else it could be other than the obvious. Please remove ‘plug’ carefully and replace after retrieving cache.

Parking: safe parking is available off road at the motorbike place on the other side of the road or down the side road on the left of the building or park in the bay just inside the next entrance to Kowhai Park.
Activity: a high muggle area at GZ
Dog Friendly: yes but keep a good grip as traffic goes past quite fast
Stroller Friendly: yes
Wheelchair Friendly: yes
Kids: yes but keep a good eye on them due to the close traffic
