BMX racing is a type of offroad bicycle race. The format of BMX was derived from motorcycle racing. BMX races are sprint races on purpose-built off-road single-lap race tracks. The track usually consists of a starting gate for up to eight racers, a groomed, serpentine, dirt race course made of various jumps and rollers and a finish line. The course is usually flat, about 15-foot (4.6 m) wide and has large banked corners that help the riders maintain speed.
BMX racing became a medal sport at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
There is a nice BMX race track located inside Lake Park. Unfortunately with all the recent rains that area of the park is not currently accessible. This cache is in an easily accessible part of the park. There is a $2 entrance fee to get into Lake Park.
This cache is part of our GeOlympic series, a series of caches that are olympic themed and coincide with the 2012 summer olympics is London. SOME of the caches have letter/number combination clues to help find the closing ceremony cache. Good luck to all the GeOlympic participants with your search.
