Each year thousands of Pittsburgh residents and regional neighbors celebrate the Irish culture at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival. The festival is typically held the weekend after Labor Day at the Riverplex of Sandcastle (http://www.pghirishfest.org)
The cache itself is located in an under-utilized park that has both a baseball field and small playground. The park is on the border of West Mifflin and Pleasant Hills. The cache container is a small lock-n-lock and is hid in a traditional fashion. This cache has an Irish theme to it. It has some Irish swag for trading.
Once you find the park, the cache is a short hike into the woods. There are a few "entrances" to the woods. You should find one, otherwise, you will be bushwhacking. Once beyond the perimeter of the woods, the foliage is thin. Terrain is a little hilly and will be muddy after a rain. GPSr readings are a little challenging given the tree cover. I took three average readings from three different approaches to compensate.
Parking coordinates are provided. Although there are a couple of small "driveways" leading down to the park, it is best to park along the street at the top of the hill.
Traditional Irish (Geocaching) Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
