Geocache Description:

Coords may be slightly off due to cloud cover when checking them, but still within limits. Added a hint to assist. The Carmel River Bridge, first constructed in 1933, is considered the gateway to Big Sur. Pretty much, if you're crossing this bridge, you're going visit the great coastline along Big Sur.

Up until 1994, this bridge was an awesome sight for runners of the Big Sur International Marathon. Mile Marker 26 stood on the bridge, meaning that the finish-line is just a long and blistering .2 miles away!

Huge floods (TWICE!) in the winter of 1995 washed away the original bridge, yet it's cornerstone with original build date remain at this site. A newer permanent bridge has been in place just east of this location since then.
