The oldest church in this part of the valley is St. Marks church at Galena, midway between Brisco and Spillimacheen.

It was built in 1895/96 on land made available by Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Pirie. Mrs. Pirie was a Presbyterian and missed the church when she came to the valley to get married in 1893. She soon set about to get one underway, and the project became a community effort. Logs were assembled at the site from the farm and vicinity. Some logs were sent down the river to the mill in Golden and were exchanged for shingles and and lumber. It was opened in June 1896. For the first few years the church had makeshift seating but soon more logs were exchanged  for lumber and Billy Logan made the pews which are still in use today. In 1996, at it's centenary a celebration was held in the church with more than 250 present.
This is the 4th of 6 caches prepared by the Golden Museum as competition pieces for the 2012 Kicking Horse Country Fall Faire, which will take place on September 8, 2012. In order to have your name entered in the draw to win a small prize at the Faire you need to bring proof that you have found all six of the KHCFF caches. They are named KHCFF1, KHCFF2, KHCFF3, KHCFF4, KHCFF5, KHCFF6. Proof (cell phone or GPS showing them found) needs to be brought to the Golden Museum before noon on Friday September 7, 2012.
