While working on a construction site in northwest California in 1958, a tractor operator named Jerry Crew found a series of massive, 16-inch footprints tracked through the Bluff Creek road construction site. He made plaster casts of the prints and the newspapers got the story and the word "Bigfoot" was created. In 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin Filmed what appeared to be a female Bigfoot along the banks of Bluff Creek, the creature in this film was nicknamed Patty.
