An easy stroll in a beautiful setting. The cache sits not too far from a lovely water cascade amongst the roses, so pack a snack and sit down, relax, and enjoy the view.
The Morcom Rose Garden is a rare 7+ acre green oasis located on Jean Street, one block off Grand Avenue in Oakland, CA. This public garden jewel is a 30’s era formal rose garden surrounded by winding paths, graceful stairways, dramatic water features and enough natural habitat to attract and provide a sanctuary for a variety of birds, including hawks, as well as the neighbors who walk through it regularly. Recently accredited by the American Rose Society, the Morcom Rose Garden is an asset for all of Oakland.
This is an easy cache to get to, no digging through the brush. Lots of people around, so be discreet. There's a log, a pencil, and a few goodies to trade. Wander over to the water cascade for a photo opp or a picnic!

UPDATE 9/3/12: Looks like the tree cover is wreaking some havoc on GPS, so I'm upping the difficulty a bit and adding another note in the hint. Please don't destroy vegetation for this cache, there is no need to do that!
